Don't procrastinate, don't be
late, don't eat too much, don't fail again, don't
smoke again, don't click here... How many times in your life have
you told yourself don't do this, don't do that? And how
many times in your life have you really been able to follow through?
Just like using gasoline to save fire, the more don't you input to your brain, the greater the impulse you get from doing something wrong. Like a child, the more don't you tell him, the more curiosity and courage he get from doing something against your will. Once my mentor in Zen asked me to move a stone. I tried as hard as I could but the stone didn't move. He tried himself and the stone moved easily. The secret is not the force but is the method. If you move against the will of the stone, you will simply break your arms. Every stone has a different shape. It weights differently on different sides. If you move in the right direction, the will of the stone will be the same as yours. Say don't to your brain and the stone within your brain will break your arms. If you really want to move the stone in your brain, you need to move it according to its will.
