laxmi temple, highlights
The Laxmi tempLe, built on an elevation and on a rectangular plan by Veer Singh Deo in 1622 A.D., was renovated by Prithvi Singh in 1793 A.D. with four star-type, multifaced projecting bastions at four coners and one such projection at the frontal gate. This brick structure is moulded like a fortress and spires give it the shape of a temple. The inner walls and hemispherical ceilings are profusely decorated with paintings depicting various episodes of the Ramayana and Srimad Bhagavata Geeta. The style adopted is the developed phase of the Bundelkhaud school which prevailed between the 17th and 19th centuries.
