day 05 ushuaia museums

Sightsee: Yamana Museum Price 3.5p (US$ 1) It was small and sweet One can spend 2 minutes to 2 hours in there

It answered the most important question Who were the Yamanas (Yahgans)? They were the naked people running around Tierra Del Fuego for the last 7000 years Only 6500 years ago the dense forest around Tierra Del Fuego was grown. They could build their canoes by bark from the trees. They kept warmth with fire and simple shelter Why were they nude? Gore-Tex, or the lack of it was the major reason they were nude (other minor reasons were they looked sexy and thus promoted reproduction) So since their shelter was temporary and thus not well built and not water proof they were wet all the time. and they knew not the secret of Gore-Tex so the only waterproof clothing they had was their own skin , anything they wore would be drenched after the frequent rainy days, and they would have lost much body heat due to the wetness (those dumb folks who insisted on wearing clothes were eliminated by evolution after those many stormy nights) but they carry their fire around everywhere even on their canoes.

When Magellan first came to Tierra Del Fuego he saw the heating system of the Yamanas (the fires) so he called it Tierra Del Fuego (the land of fire)
