This really is a great golf. I think that the only golf game that could top this is Mario Golf for Game Boy Color. Well, heres my mini review:

Gameplay: 9.5/10
Many improvements over the N64 original, including new characters, new modes, and a new swinging system, which, i might add, works very well. One of my few complaints is that the AI can sometimes get pretty cheap, but other than that its okay.

Graphics: 9.5/10
Very colorful and crisp, but can sometimes get a little blocky.

Characters and environments look very nice.

Sound: 10/10
Character voices are good and well toned, and the music is as catchy as ever.

Overall: 9.5/10
A very, very nice improvement over the original that will keep you playing for hours upon hours for the secret characters, star characters, courses, and modes.

SPOILER ALERT!!!: The four secret characters are Boo, Shadow Mario(from Mario Sunshine), Bowser Jr.(from Mario Sunshine), and Petey Piranha(also from Mario Sunshine).

A new Mario Golf title has arrived, this time on the Gamecube! Sadly though, the system has been a bitter disappointment to me in its year and a half of existance. But finally, it seems we have a game that may turn all that around! Read on and you will see why.

Graphics: Excellent, well-detailed graphics. Everything looks great, though the trees look a bit weak up close (just like in the Nintendo 64 game.) And, of course, the Princess looks great, as usual. 4.5/5

Play Control: This game uses a simpler two-tap swinging system, as opposed to the old three-tap one from the Nintendo 64 game. This new system is WAY better, and easier. 4.5/5

Challenge: The first Mario Golf had virtually unbeatable AI. It's still tough to beat the computer, but at least this time around, you have somewhat of a chance! 4/5

Theme/Fun: This is a great game, due to the virtually endless number of options. There are a variety of mode, most of which can be done in a two-player mode! Bravo, Nintendo. 5/5

Sound/Music: Very happy music, just like the last game. The voice actors are good, for the most part, but Charles Martinet's Mario still sounds godawful. Likewise, Bowser sounds terrible! He sounds like a little kid pretending to be a monster! Still, the other voices are great. 4.25/5

Originality: Take golf and add plenty of new and innovative modes, and you've got yourself one hell of a game! 4.75/5

Replay Value: The virtually endless number of options makes this category very high. 5/5

Overall Score: 4.5/5
Finally, a Gamecube game that isn't a disappointment! If you decide to get a Gamecube, or you have one already, get this game!

I have never even played golf before in my life, and I don't really like sports or sports games in general. I bought this solely because it's a 1st party Nintendo title and it has Mario in it.

Fortunately, I now love this game! It was a little hard to get used to at first, probably because of my unfamiliarity with the game of golf, but once you learn the controls, it's truly awesome!
