I really love this game! When it was in stores and I hadn't seen the movie, it looked kind of boring, but once I saw the movie, everything's HARRY POTTER! I rented it first and liked it, and then I got it for my birthday. The character graphics are acceptable and the scenes are realistic enough to be called 'real'. The gameplay is pretty easy and I got 51% in only two days! The Quidditch match is the only part you may have a little trouble with, but don't give up yet- there's still more! It's true that the game exagerates the book a bit, EX. Norbert the dragon gets sick and in the book he doesn't. At least the British accents don't sound phoney. It's fun how you get to interact with the witches and wizards also. The part I don't like is that there aren't enough saving points after something really challenging and the game just goes on. It's fun to collect Every Flavor Beans for Fred and George to earn a surprise and I love chasing Malfoy to get Neville's Remembrall back! I would surely play this game over and over!! All in all, it's just hard to put into words. :) :)

The main action of the game is a lot like Tomb Raider, but simplified and with more variety. You control Harry in a 3-D world (Hogwarts) and explore and collect items. You also interact with lots of characters from the books, who will often give you little quests to do. You can attend classes to learn spells. There are also parts where you have to fly on a broomstick, and so far these have been the hardest parts for me. It's tough to get the hang of contolling the broomstick. The game moves along really quickly, roughly following the book. It's fun enough to play - they certainly could have done far worse with this game. But don't expect the same kind of experience (or quality level) as the books give you or you will be dissapointed. I didn't expect this game to be very good, and it's better than I expected. Exploring Hogwarts is fun. The graphics and voices are a little weak (the graphic of Harry in the hospital wing after you get a game over, for example... if you showed that one to me without telling me who it was supposed to be, I'd never guess it was Harry Potter!), but at least the Brittish accents don't sound fake. :) The gameplay is pretty easy, but once in a while a mini-game (like flying) will be frustratingly hard. If you're a Harry Potter fan then give this game a try.

This game gets boring if you play it for a while. The further that you get, the more repetitve and boring it becomes. Graphics stink, but what can you expect from a PS1 game?
