If it weren't for my fiancé, I probably wouldn't have given this game a chance. When it was first released, it didn't look that good. All I got from commercials was a little dragon ran around and burned sheep. Well it's a good thing I got to play this- it's one of the better games I've played in the last 8 years. If you get past the bad camera angles and somewhat badly animated enemies, you get a game that really surpassed anyone's expectations of it. Spyro is an all-around fun game for all ages. I'm 19 and go through the whole thing from the beginning every once in a while.

This is a very easy game to get into, and surprisingly addictive. Even my idiot little brother, who is 7 and only plays bad wrestling games managed to go through the first world with no problem. What happened is all the dragons except Spyro have been crystalized by Gnasty Gnorc, and it's up to our star to save them and take out Gnorc's muppet-ass. Using fire breath, head-butts, and your trusty dragonfly: Sparx, this won't be a problem. Saving dragons, collecting gems and eggs, taking out the bosses, none of that gets boring. For once, I enjoyed going from each area instead of getting bored and going "when is this going to end?". The game doesn't keep track of how long you've been playing, but I think it took maybe 4-5 hours to beat, and depending on how you play, it could take another hour or two to get 100% (collecting everything).

A nice thing is that loading times are very short. When going from level to level, it only takes seconds, and we see Spyro flying through the sky to his destination. It makes transition a lot smoother than most games from the same generation. You really can't go wrong with Spyro. It has some of that early/mid-90's magic that we got from games like Donkey Kong Country, Rocket Knight Adventure, and a few others. It's an instant classic, and the sequels only get better. Well, except Enter of the Dragonfly. Ignore that.

spyro was actually the first ps game i ever got and it has been my fav the whole time. it really is the best. its really fun, you go around finding and releasing dragons that have been captured and crystalized by the exiled gnasty gnorc. you must get all the dragons, gems, and eggs in order to get to the last area, the prize vault. it is so fun. its simple easy to follow plot and easy-medium level makes it just one of those fun games that u just love. its got lots of worlds with clever names and the flights (my favs) really give it a perk. its got awesome graphics, and cute touches such as the sheep that u can charge, the trees u can scorch, the banana chucking monkeys, and the stupidly funny guards that moon u. its way better than its sisters, spyro 2 and 3, which u may be expecting to be the same but more challenging, well wrong...2 and 3 are totally different, they are worth renting and playing and maybe buying but spyro 1 is way better, the best. great game for all ages, its a must get, must play, must love

I absolutely love this game. I fell in love with the whole story line and characters. I just finished it 120%!!! I had such a blast. It's challenging and makes u think and wonder where things r. The music makes u get into the game and makes u feel like u R Spryo. I would reccomend this game to anyone who likes animation and adventures.
