First off, let me clear up that unlike most PlayStation accessories, the original multitap for the PSX won't work with the PlayStation 2. That said, it's better this ways anyways. The multitap for the PS2 is extremly cool looking, and very useful for the games. Sony, for whatever reason, decided only to include two controller ports on the PS2. This was probably done so we all would have to buy a Multitap, and therefore spend more money. Asides from that, this thing is amazing. It looks extremely cool, and it's been described by ign.com as mini-me. If you get two of them, then you can have up to eight controllers and eight memory cards pluged in at once. This is great for multiplayer games, such as Timesplitters and NBA Live 2001 when it comes out. The only negative aspect about it is that the cord, which attaches the Multitap to the PS2, is only 3 inches long. This is ok if you use your PS2 in the horizontal position, but if you use it in the vertical position then the cord is not long enough for the Multitap to lay flat on the floor, which leaves it hanging from the PS2. That said, this is a must have accessory that anyone who plans on playing a multiplayer game needs.

To start off this review, the multitap functions perfectly unless you mount your PS2 vertically. Just plug it into slot 1, and you magically have 4 ports for controllers and memory cards (Port #2 is still left open). Awesome for mulit-player games. A must have for parties of more than 2 people.

Now for the majr problem. Remember back to the days of Genesis and SNES. All multi-player games were 2 players max, thus the 2 controller ports. Now, the PS2 follows in that legacy, BUT with 4+ player games. Just another way for Sony to squeeze more money out of PS2 owners.

In conclusion, it works perfectly, but shouldn't even exist. If you want to payany games with more than just 2 players, you really have no choice.

Dont buy multiap it stinks it gets unplugged easily and is very expensive if you want four players why not drill holes in your ps2 You people are feeding sony ALOT of $$$ PS2 has bad MULTIPLAYER games anyway If you want Great Multiplayer get GAMECUBE or XBOX PS2 is too much MONEY.
