For those of you who actually take the time to read the reviews don't miss this one because I will tell the truth. Any fan of the original Game is in for a big disappointment. While the moves and had stayed about the same it gets a little boring. The ranks for your combos are corny, the difficulty is not the same, and Dante (Our devil hunter) has lost his charter. In Devil May Cry the action would heat up when enemies would appear and give you a more stylized view of the game, there is not much of that in this game. To tell you the truth I beat this game in a Day; the last one took a week or more on easy.

On it's own compared to the hundreds of action games out there it is a good game. The ability to turn in to a Devil and wreck havoc is a fun prospect. There are many well-rendered scenes and cool moves. The weapons of both characters are unlimited which means no looking for special ammo to defeat the special boss. The boss battles lend a fair amount of difficulty having you find a different way to defeat each one.

Its flaws are few but strong enough to take away from the overall experience of the game. As I mentioned before Dante has lost the cool, cocky, elegance of the previous game, making him a bland straightforward action version of himself. The levels lack activity for there size. This makes you, sometimes, bored. The random battles help fill in the blanks but you can get annoyed every so often because of this.

In short I'm disappointed with CAPCOM for making a bad sequel of a great game. So bad in fact that I'm actually thinking of selling my game. Save your money and buy it used because otherwise it will leave you with the feeling of being used.

This sequel really surpasses all expectations. It is much better than the first. Itz not as riduculusy difficult anymore, and has many more cool moves. So what if Dante doesnt really talk? The fight system has been really improved and so has the camera. The bosses are awesome and have plenty of health to offer some challenge. The jumps have become better and Dante's motorcycle is really cool. The guns and swords have great upgrades, and its awesome being able to turn into many different types of demons. The missions are all very different which is quite suprising. The plot isnt that great, but lets face it, most good things nowadays have very little storytelling.Some things that you get to do in this game dont really need explaining. Everything is pretty much perfect except for Lucia. She really didnt need to be added. Instead Capcom should have added more gameplay with Dante. Also, the changing music gets kind of annoying because the change warns you when your going to be attacked. The monsters pop out of nowhere, but hey, its really fun killing them. There isnt even an apparent reason for this game to get an M rating. So if you liked the first Devil May Cry then you absolutely MUST get the second, or you would miss out on a great game. When the first devil may cry was released, the public was blown away. Dante was cool in everyway, he had bad ass moves, even more bad ass weapons, and just new how to give the baddies a hard time. Devil May Cry 2 was looking to be the breakaway hit that surpassed the first in everyway. However, it almost falls short in evry single aspect form the forst game.

There only two points that have improved in Devil May Cry 2. the first being the controls of the game, they still say much the same, very fluid and easy to adapt to. I also found it a nice change to have a second playable character. The problem with this character is that her moves are almost exactly the same as Dante's she just moves a bit faster.

As for the storyline,...well there really is no storyline. The first Devil May Cry was great because not only did you get to obliterate hoards and hoards of baddies, but it was all packed to gether with an excellent storyline. Once you finish this game, you feel like you actually know less about who Dante actually is, because the storyline is EXTREMELY confusing.

Another adition, which could have come off as either a good or bad thing, is that the level size is MUCH bigger. Unfortunately in this game, it is a very bad thing, since you spend most of your time brainless tapping the button that fires your guns. As a matter of fact, when you get to the flying bat on the roof top, the only way to hit it is to continously mash the fire button, and since the game has auto aim, there is no strategy! The whole point of having both a sword AND guns is so that you can use them both, and in this game you will find yourself using your guns MUCH more than your sword. This also makes leveling up your sword with red souls pointless, since most of the time your not using it!

I'm not saying this game is completely empty of any entertainment, there are shining moments when you find yourself creating huge combos, and yes you still feel like a bad ass, SOMETIMES. If your looking at this game because the first blew you away, you may just want to rent it, because the game is EXTREMELY easy, and you will probably beat it within five hours of picking it up. If you haven't played the first one and your thinking of buying the second. DON'T! Buy the first one, rent the second, believe me its not worth your money to buy!
