Luckily, i read a walkthrough which explained how recover health. Honestly, that's the best thing the developers could have integrated into the game. Otherwise, I'd still be stuck on the second level. Now, as for the technical aspects of the game: It has far superior graphics to Vice City, and certainly more realistic reactions to everything. I liken the game to Metal Gear 2 more so than Vice City because of the good character range of motion and graphic quality. The character can flatten against walls, crouch behind boxes, do sommersaults, do choke holds, break necks (my personal favorite move) and a multitude of other motions. Yes, the camera angle is fairly fixed, but the same thing happened in MGS2, and few people had problems with that. Personally, I'm a big fan of the realism, minus the healing factor of course. I think the biggest problem with this game is the repetition of the mission types. Drive car kill people, kill people drive car. As far as the "playable movie" that people gripe about, the cut scenes are so short when compared to MGS2 that it really doesn't become a problem. No you can't skip them, but there are few times when you really want to. Besides, they make the game that much more compelling. Personally, I think the game is a good buy once you learn how to heal yourself (stand against a wall and watch the blood dissapear), though I wouldn't buy it at full price (I paid 40, and I think I should have paid less). The city of London here is the star, make no mistake. Beautifully rendered, right down to the irritating-as-hell roundabouts (I STILL can't navigate them). The accents add a touch of realism, and to be honest, a welcome change from the stereotypical Italian mob stuff seen so often. Getaway is a good, but not great game. If you are looking for a Vice City duplicate, you won't find it here, but if you want a game with a good story, outstanding graphics and decent game control, pick up this game Falls short....This game was pretty good..when you play it the first time. This game is similar to The GTA franchise but with better graphics BUT NOT better gameplay. The driving seems realistic which is a good thing. I thought the Profanity was over the top..Every cutscene has the F word atleast 10-20 times. They use it alot! And the violence is pretty over the top...With blood I mean, But not as violent as GTA 3. The gameplay is a little short. The cutscenes are long but Entertaining. The music is just awesome. I loved it. The part with Frank is great. It's the best part of the game. Frank is more fun then The other character. I thought this game was amazing at one point but now I really thought this game was very dull for some reason. The game play is short. The missions are short eventhough there pretty frustraiting. The game features dozens of cars to steal, with manufacturers including Lexus (SC430, IS300, LS430), Saab (93), Toyota (1990 MR2), Honda (modified 1997 Civic), Nissan (Skyline), Mercedes (E500), Land Rover, Jaguar (S-Type)and much more. Driving is realistic, the physics are very different from GTA3/VC. On foot, the game is a mix between MGS2, Hitman 2, and GTA. When your guy takes a hit, you'll regain health by leaning on a wall.
The graphics here are gorgeus. Cars are modeled nicely and the game has good lightning effects. Sure it isn't GT3 but pretty close in some aspects. The faces on the characters are well done and the city of London is brought to life in the game.
Overall, this game was quite a surprise, rent it first, if you like it buy it. If you don't like realistic stuff in games, then ditch this one.
