Although UFC Throwdown is a decent game, and it's nice having a version to play on the PS2, Crave Entertainment dropped the ball in a lot of regards. There are a handful of new moves added since the Dreamcast version, and several new fighters (the plus side), BUT the Create-A-Fighter mode is nowhere even CLOSE to being the comprehensive feature we were promised, the fighter likenesses are abysmal(fans of the real UFC will be very disappointed), and the game is a veritable snoozefest in the single-player modes.

Basically, I suggest waiting until this game drops in price before you buy it. It's fun with a bunch of friends, and isn't terrible, but it is nowhere near good enough to warrant paying full price.

The forthcoming Pride Fighting Championship game certainly sounds like it's going to be THE definitive Mixed Martial Arts fighting game, since the developers are actually making an effort to listen to what the fans want in a fighting game, and those lucky few who have played demo versions say that they've made good on every promise...something Crave just couldn't be troubled to do. You may want to skip this one entirely and wait for Pride if you're a hardcore MMA fan.

To start off I think this is a great fighting game period. This is to say I like it far better than virtua fighter 4(the only other fighting game I have for PS2). Its shocking how in depth the fighting system is for all the UFC fighters and for the eight or so different kinds of career fighters you can create(you can very the martial art between levels making the possibilities endless.)

The graphics are definitely high-end(even for a next-gen system), and the load times are reasonably short. The fighting itself is extremely fluid and very fun. ITs best to save often in career mode because once in a rare while the game freezes(at least mine ...

Long time fans will be dissapointed at the abscence of tank abbott, royce gracie, and ken shamrock -- but all in all it offers tens and possibly hundreds of hours of ankle locking fun(especially if you and your buddys create characters loosely based on yourselves excepy ya know tough too :-) )

This games cool. My friends cousin is in the game. (Pete William) The graphics are pretty good. The modes are better then the first one. But my compaint is the same as the first one. Matches end way to quickly. I want more of a stragetic sim game engine involved. Why don't ground battles last 10 minutes or longer? It still feels like a button masher game. The moves are hard to pull off. The create a character mode is way too shallow. The games cool for a while but lacks replay value unless your fighting another live person..
