Finally, Tom Clancy created a video game that is worth playing! And not only is it worth playing, it's plain awesome! The graphics, as anyone can agree, are gorgeous. This is the best looking Xbox game I've seen and the best overall looking game on the PS2. The voice acting is very convicing, with good ol' Michael Ironside from Top Gun giving NSA special operative Sam Fisher his personality. The supporting cast is very good also. The sound is perfect. The gameplay is very engaging and will keep you (willingly) at the TV, controller in hand, for as long as you can. This game follows in the footsteps of the hit series Metal Gear Solid (for the PS1 and the PS2) and is similar in many respects. The gist of it is that you sneak around, avoiding being seen, heard, smelled, whatever, and doing your thing to hurt the bad guys. Splinter Cell is a very secret branch of the NSA (National Security Association) and deals with sabotage of use of electronics and computers used by terrorists (if you didn't know, that's what NSA's all about). You are, as they say, like a sliver of glass: small, sharp, and practically invisible. The game starts off with two CIA agents doing some splinter cell-like work of their own in the country of Georgia. They're seen, and try to get out of the area. They get caught in the process (but hey, who can blame them? I'd like to see you try to evade several attack choppers on foot.) and, of course, our Uncle Sam has to go and bust them out and find out what on earth is going on. I'll stop there, since you wouldn't want the story spoiled, now would you? To sneak around, you do several things to stay undiscovered. First, you crouch and move slowly. Second, you stay in the shadows and basically in places where the bad guys don't look. To take out guys, you don't go up to them and blast them with your silenced pistol. You walk up to them (without them noticing, of course) and smack them in the head and knock them out. Guns should be kept to an absolutely need-to-use basis. Then, once you do your business with them (by the way, you could also interrogate some and force others to give fingerprint and retinal scans) you hide the body. Again, in some place where the bad guys don't look. And, fortunately, the bad guys usually don't wake up unless one of their buddies do see them. This game requires patience, and I know that not all have that patience. But if you do, that I would strongly recommend to get this game! It will be worth it! I guarentee it!

Ive played the demos, read the reviews, seen the screenshots, none of it matters. This game is just plain cool, but its not the coolness, its just the presence of voilently realistic goodness. I mean, anything youve seen in a Jet Li mvie you can do here, do the splits between two close walls and watch your unaware prey walk underneath you, drop, hold a gun to his head, and pull the trigger. Throw a mini cam past a nearby wall and turn it on, watch him, how he moves, you can actually do this. The gadgets, the sticky cams, wall mines,hacking into computers, diversion mines, heat vision, night vision, anything you can think of. The diversion cams make distracting sounds, so the bad guy walks over, suspicious. When he gets close enough, you can manually make the device gas him!
The graphics are awesome, you can actually see a moth's shadow from a nearby light on your face. Shoot people without them even seeing you. You dont want to get cuaght at all, shoot the lights out in the room then turn your night vision on and shoot your prey as he fumbles for the light switch. Definetely a 10 out 0f 10 game. Ive already pre-ordered it on this site, I suggest you do the same!

Heres what I thought of the game and the features.

Excellent graphics and character models. Every character hand drawn making them unique.

Good storyline and news cast scenes.

Cool moves like hanging on pipes, shooting from them and crawl on them. use guards to cooperate and as human shields.

Guards are chinese and Russians.

Good controls

Excellent wepons and items like thermal and night vision goggles, sticky camera, and a SC Pistol (Kind of like a Socom).

Hide and Skadows for cover and stay in light for danger.

Interact with the enviroment. Shoot Lights, soda cans, comperters, throwobjects like the can and about any thing else.

Cool features like behind the sceens footage.

Overall a good game and a must buy!
