Its a very good game with alot going for it, the cars handle very well its also very realistic, the tracks look great , small problem with the distant graphics they are a little dull (which on the back cover suggests otherwise ?) the music blows, it sounds very dated, N 64 almost. The rival drivers are very interesting (almost like they are human) and the way they cut you off and basicaly seem to want to win makes this game definatly worth the purchase . This is a game that sits on the second from the top shelf but its a long way from being a 1 star or 2 star dud. (very few text book perfect X Box games around people just get worked up by promotions and marketing which this game recieved very little of if it had it could have been pretty popular ) Total Immesion Racing is not brilliant (by todays standerds) but its close enough to satisfy, so long as you like realism and not so much arcade type racing.

This game is lame! I have been racing for over 20 years and the first review is totally inaccurate! The license he speaks of doesn't even exist. Take it from me, A REAL PROFESSIONAL RACECAR DRIVER, this game will cause you to have a wreck because you will be asleep before the first lap is over! Besides, if the guy in the first review was really a racecar driver he would not be on here writing reviews about video games! Like I said, I have been a real racecar driver for over 15 years!

I have held an SCCA National Competitor license. I have raced numerous sport and formula cars. I have fueled Indycars, including the 1999 Indy 500 Rookie of the Year. And this is the best racing game I have ever played. It's the best recreation I have ever seen of car dynamics--if you are going into a corner and you come out of the power, the car is going to "walk" without being hooked up at the rear wheels. Tap the brakes in a 'light' corner and the front wheels load and turn. Very realistic. I have never played a game that so faithfully recreates the experience of driving a "real" race car.

And this isnt just a "plug it in and go through all the levels" game...you must improve your skills, and each level IS more difficult--not just a faster car. Each level is a quantum jump in ability, and includes tougher car dynamics and better competition. I waltzed through the GT3 category, and thought, "Well, on to the next level...", only to spend a LOT of time learning the GTS cars. If you are looking to accurately recreate the racing experience, this is the closest I have seen.

The only down side I have found is that contact doesnt produce damage...you can go through every gravel pit on the track, bang into competitors and fences, and the car is just as it started the race. I'm not crazy about that--I think you should be penalized for contact. But that is really the only thing I have seen so far that is disappointing.

I know it sounds like a mantra--but this is the most realistic racing game I have ever experienced. Buy it. You'll like it.
