Very good note for note transcriptions of the songs.

To the person who couldn't get boxer to match : The book says no capo required. This is misleading. The recording is tuned one step lower than standard tuning. So you need a capo at the -2 fret :) If you want to match the recording, you will have to retune. The publisher assumed most people wouldnt want to do that, so they just said no capo required.

This is an excellent book for beginners, I just got it and I'm already enjoying it. If you play the Acoustic guitar and you're not an expert that you can play songs and write notes only by listening to them - this book is for you. Bridge Over Troubled Water and Mrs. Robinson are only 2 of the great hits you'll find in this book. DON'T FORGET GARFUNKEL! Hey, Paul Simon has had a great solo career, but you need a greatest hits album that includes Garfunkel also, for this harmony has been oft-imitated but never duplicated in such grandeur.

Garfunkel adds that extra special something that made MRS. ROBINSON, CECELIA and 59TH STREET BRIDGE SONG sing-along favorites, and revived the traditional favorite SCARBOROUGH FAIR.

Of course, Simon still gets top billing for his phenomenal singing and songwriting skills and works his solo magic on two of the album's greatest cuts, FOR EMILY WHEREVER I MAY FIND HER and BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATER.

It's a real testament to the duo's tremendous appeal that a 20-song "greatest hits" CD can only marginally capture their music. Still, the selection is one that will keep old fans happy and win over a few new fans along the way. It's too bad that their inspiring cover of THE TIMES ARE A'CHANGIN' wasn't included. This album is still guaranteed to stay in your player for a long time.

For a few days now, I've been trying to think of what I can say about Simon & Garfunkel, but I haven't been having much luck. I've tried drawing parallels to every other artist and group I can think of, but no other musicians are quite like this classic duo. Today, it dawned on me -- they're original; that's why I like them so much! In today's world of music, listeners automatically expect all music to fall under a predefined category. When something totally unique and different is playing, like Simon & Garfunkel, our first instinct is that something is wrong with our ears! But, alas, nothing is wrong with my hearing -- I just realized that Simon & Garfunkel's success lies in their sonorous tunes and talented songwriting. Time-honored hits like 'The Boxer,' 'Homeward Bound,' 'Mrs. Robinson,' 'Cecilia,' 'I am a Rock,' 'Sound of Silence,' 'Scarborough Fair,' and 'Bridge Over Troubled Water' have distinguished the duo in the music industry. Amazon classifies these songs as 'folk rock,' but I prefer to think of them as something else -- something majestic, poetic, soothing. . . a paradoxical sound that is both distinct and enigmatic. The songs on this album encompass a wide variation of musical dynamics; some are fast and loud (Cecilia; I Am a Rock; Mrs. Robinson), others are slow and soft (Bridge Over Troubled Water; Scarborough Fair; Sound of Silence), and still there are some songs that are both fast/slow and loud/soft (Homeward Bound; The Boxer; The 59th Street Bridge Song). The fact that these songs are still popular after thirty-plus years shows that they have a timeless quality: universal appeal. Here it is, the first affordable collection of Simon and Garfunkel's Greatest Hits. All the esential hits are here. If you could never buy the box set and multi disc hit sets from them, this is perfect because only the really popular tracks are on here.
This is one of my favorite CDs out right now along with Bond's "Classified" and Mr.Deviant's "Techno Obsession" which is a mix of power rock and hard dance music to make some killer instrumentals.

This video was recored live in Central Park on September 19, 1981. I think it deserves more than 5 stars. I think is the greatest video that ever was. Simon and Garfunkel sing infront of 500,000 people. It contains 2 extra songs that were cut from the album; The late great Johnny Ace, and Late in the evening(reprise). Durring The Late Great Johnny Ace, a duranged fan jumps on stage after Paul sings about John Lennon being shot. Paul gets real scared and the bouncer comes and grabs the kid and takes him away. The highlight of the evening I think is when Paul sang 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover. Art sings an OK version of Bridge over troubled water. Paul and Art play with an amazing backing band too. Also much of the dialogue that was cut from the record, is restored on the tape. Things such as intro's of songs, Paul introduces the band, and Paul had a speech about fireworks. I think it is great and you should buy it. You can't be considered a Simon and Garfunkel fan without it.

This is arguably one of the greatest concerts ever performed. In front of an estimated half a million people in New York's Central Park, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel put in the performance of their lives.

What makes this concert so good? Well, it's hard to know where to begin. I'll start with the performers themselves. Very much at the top of their game on this night, the duo's voices sound perfect. Despite 10 years apart, and some obvious tension remaining, they slip easily back into perfect harmony . Garfunkel sings along on Simon's solo tracks as though they'd always been singing them together.

The set list is also fantastic. Combining S & G standards like "Homeward Bound", "The Sound of Silence" and "Bridge Over Troubled Water" with Paul Simon solo material and even a Garfunkel solo number. The whole set runs from start to finish perfectly.

Finally, the atmosphere generated by the huge crowd is fantastic. Sitting in your lounge room you can almost feel like you are there. The applause for Art's heart-wrenching rendition of "Bridge Over Troubled Water" must have created a small earthquake.

Overall, this concert is just a pleasure no matter what sort of music fan you are. Two of music's greatest performers at their peak.
