PDA

I got my Zire 31 a couple weeks ago. It's my first PDA, and I did quite a bit of research before buying. Don't pay attention to the guy who doesn't even own this nifty little gadget; his review is worthless!

The Zire was easy to start using right out the box. I've had no problems getting it to synch up with multiple computers. My main goal was to have a small PDA to keep track of basic info (tasks, lists, my calendar, etc). I wasn't looking for something expensive or too powerful for my needs. The Zire 31 is perfect.

The only two gripes I have are related to the battery. While the battery life is fabulous (I can use it for days without having to charge it), there's no indicator that shows when it's plugged in and charging or when the charging is complete. Also, there's a little battery meter that appears at the top of the home screen, but it's purely graphical; you can't tell how long the battery will keep working.

I highly recommend this as anyone's first PDA or for those of you who don't need something mega-powerful. The price makes it a very reasonable investment.

Well, After using it for about a week, I must say that it does pretty much everything...look @ photos and listen to mp3's. Awesome for $150.

However, the photo-viewing program doesn't allow you to zoom in or out. This is annoying because the Photo program just resizes the image to fit on the screen. That's disappointing. You also need an SD card to take advantage of the mp3 player, which requires another purchase. My last CON is the HORRIBLE graffiti2 that comes with it...NASTY. I found a hack online for converting it back to graffiti1, but it acts a little funny after converting it back. Oh well.

I was happy that both the mp3 player and the photo viewer both allow you to view photos on your SD card without a problem. The mp3 playback quality is great!

this is a great product....I got it figuring it would help me organize for school, the screen being 160X160 was great for the money. I have a 64MB card with hundreds of pictures that come out great. Technically, this was my second palm, I had a IIIx that my parents gave me but I rarely used it so the grafitti switch wasn't a problem for me.....for such a small speaker it has great sound-great price-hotsync software worked perfect-never called/emailed costomer support-wireless keyboard worked great-very easy to take notes (type into memo, sync, and trasfer to word
-had to re install keyboard driver twice for it would not reconize signal<-did not come with documents-to-go-it could have came with more built in memory.
I think im gonna upgrade to the Tungsten E just because it comes with documents to go.... but if you are looking for your first palm and a great deal this is definatly the palm for you!!!
