Cactus Garden in Lightning Ridge, Bourke
When you can't decide on a hairstyle, just grow spikes!
In the heart of Lightning Ridge, I stumbled upon a mesmerizing cactus garden—a testament to nature's ability to thrive even in the most unforgiving environments. Amongst the myriad of cacti stood a particularly striking specimen with two cylindrical segments adorned with reddish-brown spines. The ground beneath was a mosaic of small pebbles and dry soil, characteristic of arid landscapes. Surrounding this unique cactus were other succulents and cacti of various shapes and sizes—some boasting spherical segments while others towered with columnar forms. The scene was a rich tapestry of textures and colors, each plant telling its own story of survival and resilience. It was a stark reminder that beauty often emerges from the most unexpected places.
