Spokane River and Monroe Street Bridge, Spokane

When nature and architecture have a staring contest, and nature is clearly winning!

I wandered further along the Spokane River, drawn by the sound of rushing water. The river, with its unyielding force, seemed to be in a perpetual tug-of-war with the rocks. The Monroe Street Bridge loomed in the distance, its arches casting shadows over the water, like a giant trying to catch its breath. On one side, the historic red-brick buildings stood tall, a stark reminder of the city's past, while the modern structures on the other side seemed almost shy in their presence. The sky, with its patchwork of clouds, added a touch of drama to the scene. Spokane, with its unique blend of history and modernity, never ceases to amaze. As I watched the water flow under the bridge, I couldn't help but think about the eternal struggle between nature and civilization. The river, undeterred by the presence of the bridge, continued its journey, reminding me that in the grand scheme of things, nature always has the upper hand. It's moments like these that make travel worthwhile – the unexpected encounters with the sublime that leave you both humbled and exhilarated.
