Colorful Bird with a Twig in its Beak, Cleland

When you’re all dressed up with nowhere to nest!

Cleland Wildlife Park continues to be an enclave of natural wonder. Today I observed a particularly colorful bird perched delicately on a metal railing. It was holding a thin twig in its beak suggesting it was in the midst of nest-building. Its plumage was an exquisite mix of earthy browns interspersed with vibrant patches of blue green and yellow. The bird’s head and upper body were primarily reddish-brown transitioning to lighter browns and grays down its back and wings. A distinctive white patch adorned its throat and chest adding to its striking appearance. Behind it was a blur of green foliage creating a serene backdrop that highlighted the bird’s vivid colors. Sunlight filtered through casting soft shadows and illuminating the intricate patterns of its feathers. It was a scene that captured the quiet industriousness of nature.
