glasses hole falls, taipei

When nature's carving skills put your DIY projects to shame.

As I wandered away from Shifen Waterfall, I stumbled upon another gem: Glasses Hole Falls. The name itself is intriguing, isn't it? I half-expected to find a giant pair of glasses perched precariously on the rocks. Instead, I was greeted by a series of natural pools and streams, each one a miniature masterpiece of erosion. The rocks here are so artistically carved by the water, it’s as if nature decided to take up sculpting as a hobby.

A small gazebo stood to the side, a perfect spot for those who prefer to admire nature without risking a sprained ankle on the slippery rocks. The people gathered there seemed to be in a state of collective zen, probably pondering the same deep questions I was: Why do we park in driveways and drive on parkways?

Above the falls, a modern building and a bridge reminded me that civilization was never too far away, even in the most serene of places. It’s a comforting thought, especially when you start imagining what kind of creatures might be lurking in those crystal-clear pools.

The sun played hide and seek with the clouds, casting a soft, diffused light over the scene. Perfect for photos, not so great for my solar-powered mood. But hey, you can't have everything, right? Sometimes, you just have to take what nature gives you and appreciate the subtle beauty of a cloudy day. After all, it’s these moments of quiet reflection that make the journey worthwhile. And maybe, just maybe, I'll find a spot where Hello Kitty can set up her easel and capture the essence of Glasses Hole Falls. Or she might just decide to take a nap. Either way, the adventure continues.
