Birds of Taipei Zoo, taipei

When you realize your 'casual' pose is actually your best angle.

After my colorful encounter with the scarlet ibis, I wandered further into the Taipei Zoo and found myself face-to-face with this regal pelican. Standing there with an air of nonchalance, it looked like it was contemplating the deeper mysteries of the universe—or perhaps just its next meal. The pelican's pale plumage contrasted beautifully with the vibrant green foliage, making it look like a living statue in a natural gallery. It's funny how a bird can exude such an air of dignity, while I’m over here trying not to trip over my own feet. The soft, overcast light added a touch of drama to the scene, making the pelican's feathers glow with an almost ethereal quality. As I stood there, admiring this avian marvel, I couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy. Here was this bird, perfectly at home in its environment, while I’m still trying to figure out how to navigate the complexities of city life. Maybe there's a lesson in that—about finding your place in the world, or perhaps it's just about appreciating the simple elegance of nature. Either way, it was a moment of pure, unfiltered awe. Stay tuned as I continue to uncover the hidden gems of Taipei, one majestic bird at a time. Who knows what other stories this city holds? And more importantly, how many involve getting lost in translation?
