Birds Perched on a Branch, Queensland

Who's the leader here? Definitely me.

Perched above the hum of human chatter, these birds seemed to exist in a realm untouched by time. One stood out with its iridescent blue and green feathers catching the sunlight like a quiet declaration of beauty. The others, pale and understated, formed a backdrop as if to emphasize its prominence. I found myself wondering if they noticed each other’s differences or if such thoughts were reserved for creatures like us. A breeze rustled the leaves nearby, but the birds remained still, their calm presence almost meditative. A small group of visitors passed beneath them without so much as a glance upward—an oversight I couldn’t quite understand. Perhaps it’s easier to miss what doesn’t demand your attention. The birds didn’t seem to mind; they had their own silent rhythm to follow.
